Supreme god of the dead, Osiris was the first king of humans and the first person to be embalmed (mummified). According to Egyptian myth, Osiris was killed by Seth, god of chaos. Isis, Nepthys, and Anubis embalmed him, allowing him to continue his reign in the after life. Osiris is often depicted in his mummy wrappings, as here, or in his role as king, as on Tutu's breastplate.
