To Make a Mummy
The ancient Egyptians believed that when they died, they would experience an afterlife very much like the life they knew. Believing that their souls would need a bodily vessel, the ancient Egyptians went to great lengths to preserve their bodies. Mummification was a lengthy and expensive process performed by priests.
